Brown eyes are anything but boring. Pair them with the right eye makeup and they’ll look truly stunning. Not sure where to start? Below, we’re sharing a makeup tutorial for brown eyes featuring purple, a color that complements brown eyes beautifully. So, make sure you have all of your eye shadows and eyeliners handy!
Step 1: Create a Flawless-Looking Face
Before moving onto your eye makeup, get your face out of the way first. Apply a primer, like the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro Matte Lock Makeup Primer, to create an even canvas, then follow up with color correcting concealers, like the L’Oréal Paris True Match™ Color Correcting Crayons. Next, reach for a foundation, like the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro Matte Foundation. Finally, disguise any imperfections, like dark circles, with a concealer, such as the L’Oréal Paris True Match™ Super-Blendable Multi-Use Concealer. Now you can focus on highlighting your gorgeous brown eyes!
Step 2: Prime Your Lids
Just as you used primer on your face, do so on your lids. Reach for an eye makeup primer and smooth it all over your lids so that your eye shadow and eyeliner will apply more easily. If you don’t have any eye shadow primer on hand, you can use a tiny bit of foundation or concealer to get the job done.
Step 3: Lay Your Eye Shadow Base
Start by apply a dark brown eye shadow from the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche La Palette Nude Intense, to your crease and outer corner of your eye, using a dense eye shadow brush. Once you’ve done that, blend the edges with a fluffy makeup brush. Next, use a beige eye shadow from the same palette, applying it over the edge of the brown eye shadow.
Step 4: Follow Up with Eyeliner
Grab a purple eyeliner, like the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Last Waterproof Pencil Eyeliner in Purple, and use it to line your upper lid and outer crease. Smudge the purple eyeliner out with your finger. Line your waterline (a.k.a. your inner rim) with the same eyeliner in Brown.
Step 5: Finish with Purple Eye Shadow
Almost done! Apply a purple eye shadow, like the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Paints Metallics Eye Shadow in Violet Luster, onto the outer third of your lids, smudging it with a flat eye shadow brush.
Step 6: Layer on the Mascara
No eye makeup look would be complete without a coat or two of mascara—which is exactly why we’re including this step in our makeup tutorial for brown eyes. For a dramatic look, opt for a fiber-infused mascara, like the L’Oréal Paris Voluminous X Fiber Mascara. It contains a black primer on one end and a fiber-infused mascara on the other to help create the appearance of length and volume.
Step 7: Pick a Neutral Lip Color
Don’t leave your lips bare. Because your eye makeup look is pretty bold, choose a subtle lipstick shade, like the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Shine Lipstick in Dazzling Doe. Before applying lipstick, exfoliate your lips with the L’Oréal Paris Pure-Sugar Nourish & Soften Scrub.
Step 8: Take Your Makeup Off at the End of the Day
Once you’re done showing off those stunning brown eyes, you’ll have to remove all of your hard work. This part’s easy, though. Just reach for a no-rinse makeup remover, like micellar water. The L’Oréal Paris Micellar Cleansing Water Complete Cleanser Waterproof – All Skin Types intensely purifies skin and removes all traces of makeup—even the waterproof kind. Simply saturate a cotton pad with the micellar water and wipe the pad across your face and hold it over closed eyes for a few seconds.
