If you have a consistent skin care routine that you follow every day, then you’re probably already pretty familiar with cleansing your skin morning and night. Using a facial cleanser is an important skin care step, as it can help rid the surface of your skin of dirt, excess oils, and makeup. And, as you know, not cleansing your skin can lead to clogged pores when the dirt, oils, and makeup mix together on the surface of your skin.
To combat the possibility of clogged pores and potential breakouts, it’s imperative that you find a facial cleanser that really works for you. You may have a favorite type of facial cleanser—whether that’s a rinse-off facial cleanser, micellar water, or towelettes, but one you may not have yet tried is a clay facial cleanser. Whether you have dull, dry skin, or oily skin, your new favorite facial cleanser in your skin care routine awaits you.
WHAT IS A CLAY FACIAL CLEANSER?
Clay facial cleansers are formulated with clay to help remove impurities from the surface of your skin. They’re rinse-off facial cleansers, meaning you apply them to your skin and then wash them off.
OUR BEST CLAY FACIAL CLEANSERS
Our line of Pure-Clay Cleansers are powered by three different clays and enhanced with other ingredients (more on those later!). They’re formulated to transform from clay to mousse, removing everyday impurities from the surface of your skin without over-drying. Pretty cool, right?
L’Oréal Paris Pure-Clay Detox and Brighten Cleanser: This clay facial cleanser is suitable for all skin types and its formula is enhanced with charcoal—so if your complexion looks lackluster, it might be the right one for you. Not only does it help purifiy the surface of your skin of dirt, oil, and pollution. Use after use, you may notice that your dull skin appears brighter, too.
L’Oréal Paris Pure-Clay Cleanser Purify and Mattify Cleanser: This clay facial cleanser formula is enhanced with eucalyptus and suitable for all skin types. Have oily skin? This one could be for you! It helps remove excess sebum (a.k.a. oil) from the surface of skin for a refreshed look and feel.
L’Oréal Paris Pure-Clay Exfoliate and Refine Cleanser: This clay facial cleanser is suitable for oily and combination skin and its formula is enhanced with red algae. It goes beyond daily cleansing to exfoliate. Exfoliation is the process of sloughing away dead skin cells from the surface of your skin, which can build up and cause the look of dullness.
HOW TO USE OUR CLAY FACIAL CLEANSERS
Once you’ve determined which of the above three clay facial cleansers is right for your skin, it’s time to put your new facial cleanser to work! Once a day, squeeze your clay facial cleanser of choice into your hands and add water to transform it from clay to mousse. Gently massage the facial cleanser onto your face using circular motions, making sure to avoid your delicate eye area. Once you’re done doing that, rinse thoroughly and pat dry.
4 FACE CLEANSING TIPS TO KEEP IN MIND
Ready to take your skin care routine to the next level? Follow these tips to upgrade your technique!
1. Use a cleanser suitable for your skin type and preferences
Ready to try a clay facial cleanser? Pick the one from our collection that best suits your skin’s needs—whether your skin tends to get oily throughout the day, looks dull, or is in need of some exfoliation, there’s a match for you! For travel, consider packing a no-rinse cleansing option like micellar water or towelettes in your suitcase to make this skin care step easier on the road. There’s no sink required for either option, so you can cleanse just about anywhere!
2. Cleanse your skin with lukewarm water
Keep things cool! Super-hot H2O can strip your skin of essential oils, so rinse off with lukewarm water instead. Follow this tip when you’re in the shower as well.
3. Be gentle
Ouch! There’s no reason for harsh rubbing when it comes to cleansing your complexion. Use gentle circular motions when you apply your facial cleanser to your skin—it’s all about showing your skin some love.
4. Don’t towel off
Once you’re done cleansing and you rinse off, your first instinct may be to reach for your towel to dry your face. But don’t do that just yet! Instead, apply your moisturizer to damp skin to help lock in hydration. One of our favorite types of moisturizer is a lightweight, water-based one, like the L’Oréal Paris Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care for Normal/Dry Skin, L’Oréal Paris Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care for Normal/Oily Skin, or L’Oréal Paris Hydra Genius Daily Liquid Care for Extra Dry Skin.
